Shea Butter Goodness...

Hey Dolls,

I think it is safe to say, I've taken this natural thing to a whole new level and i am loving it. The first time i knew of Shea butter was from my Mom. Oh, how the Mommy loves her Shea Butter o o.

Today's post is going to be a general review on the all in one moisturizer, the miracle worker, the do it all product, the almighty Shea Butter.

Shea Butter ( Ori or Kadanya as it is locally called)  is an all-natural product. It is a cream colored fatty substance made from the nuts of karite nut trees that grow wild in the Savannah regions of West and East Africa. While Shea Butter has a wide variety of applications, it is well known for its exceptional dermatological and cosmetic healing properties.

Shea Butter is full of nutrients, including vitamin A, which has many healing properties and has been known to aid in treating blemishes, dark spots, skin discoloration, wrinkles, eczema and dermatitis, as well as burns and even stretch marks. Shea butter is also packed with antioxidants like vitamin E,which is why it works so well at moisturizing and soothing all types of skin and can be found in skin and hair products.

Shea Butter provides all the essential vitamins needed to make the skin look and feel smoother, softer and most importantly, healthier. Its therapautic properties protect the skin from wind, cold, sun and it helps heal wounds faster. Shea butter stimulates cellular activity, fights the effects of aging and repairs rough, damaged skin.

My Experience with Shea Butter.

The first time I ever used Shea butter, i was completely put off by the smell. I had never smelt anything so raw and so strong, and i couldn't believe i would rub it on my body, let alone my face.....arrrrgggghhh! I used it for a few weeks, and guess what? I got darker and then  i got pissed , and i stopped using it all together. Maybe it was where i bought it from, maybe something was mixed in it. I had to call the number of the producers and complained, but all they could say was ; Sorry Ma!

Then i did the big chop in January, and the number 1 moisturizer on every naturalista's lip was : Ori ( Shea Butter).. hmmmmmmm! I had to summon courage and of course i bought both refined and unrefined Shea butter, and this time i got lucky. I guess my mind was made up and there was no turning back.

Shea Butter has become my all over body moisturizer as well as my hair moisturizer. I also use a tiny bit of it on my face at most 3 times in a week. The good thing is, i got hand whipped Shea butter and so its super light on my face.

Overall Thoughts

I love love me some Shea butter, most especially this hand whipped one i got recently. I was too eager to start using it, that i totally broke the blogging rule : "Photograph product before using it". What i love most about this jar of goodness: It's whipped with carrot oil and olive oil and it's unscented. Also the dark spots on my face are gradually fading, i love how my skin feels lush through out the day, it's just amazing. I always look forward to my hair wash days, my Shea butter is fantastic on my hair, it leaves my hair very moisturized and super soft. I wouldn't hesitate to repurchase this particular one as it works wonders for my skin, my hair, Ud's skin and Ud's hair... Oh well!!!

Quick Tip:
Shea butter is usually in a solid form, but you can use a mixer to make it fluffy, soft and easy to apply.

I got my hand whipped Shea butter from mymakeupNG online store: for #1,200.

I absolutely love it too! It leaves your skin super soft although when not whipped it leaves your skin smooth soft and darker! Ori is my number one moisturizer. It never finishes in my house even all the way from here.
